Cardinal Copia and his Taint Tickling Ghouls

Cardinal Copia and a Nameless Ghoul in Sacramento

Names of Current Bands Members are shared in this post.  If you DO NOT want to know, please refrain from reading.

From taint tickling to wobbling asses, Ghost’s shows in Sacramento and San Jose were  non-stop thrill rides.

With no opening act, Cardinal Copia and his band of Nameless Ghouls and Ghoulettes played two 90 minute sets with a 15 minute intermission. In addition to this longer set, the theatrics were stepped up a notch with a set-list that brought back crowd favorites like “Satan Prayer” and “Idolatrine” as well as new releases “Dance Macabre” and “Witch Image.”  The set also included a brief acoustic moment for “Jigolo Har Megiddo.”  Ghost also played their cover of Roky Erickson’s “If You Have Ghosts.”

Though Ghost is known for having a rotating line-up, everyone on the A Pale Tour Named Death has carried over from the Rats! On the Road tour.  The most notable change is just how “into it” these Ghouls and Ghoulettes are.  It appears that they are now comfortable in their masks and roles on stage.    Per “Sodomizer” Eriksson, affectionately referred to as “Dirty Bird Ghoul,” appears much more comfortable in the lead guitar role.  Though a talented bassist, Eriksson really shines on lead guitar.  He is truly a captivating Ghoul on stage.  His crowd interactions are only surpassed by the Cardinal himself.

The non-stop fun included lewd jokes and choreography for the musicians.  Ghouls were seen frantically running from position to position between songs.

Cardinal Copia and Nameless Ghouls support a Nameless Ghoulette during her keytar solo in “Mummy Dust.”

Ghost continue to use their confetti cannon during “Mummy Dust.” The saxophone solo in “Miasma” continues to be one of the most unconventional metal moments for Ghost.

It is clear that Tobias Forge is aiming to raise the bar with every new tour cycle.  With multiple costume changes, he continues to build his stage show to greater heights while progressing the band’s sound.  Adding more ghouls and ghoulettes to the stage has helped to virtually eliminate almost all back-tracking.

Be sure to catch Ghost on their remaining US dates OR in Europe.
