DJ Daniel Graves in Sac Town

On Saturday, Daniel Graves pulled a double DJ set at Club Necromancy.  Though I didn’t get to stay for both sets, I did get a chance to say “Hi” and groove to his first set.

Daniel Graves the the DNA Lounge in January.

If you have never seen Graves at a DJ gig, you’re sorely missing out.  Not only does he choose kick-ass music, but he thoroughly enjoys it!  His passion for music shows just as much during a DJ set.  He dances and bounces around while singing along and engaging the audience The energy in the room when he DJs is palpable.  He creates this static energy that makes you really just let go.

The irony of his first set came when he played Priest’s “The Cross.”  I couldn’t help but laugh because I was in my Ghost shirt and singing along.  (I’m just here for the music and not the drama.)

The atmosphere at the club was enjoyable as well.  Though not as big as the DNA Lounge in SF, the community and age variety at the show was rather pleasant.  Whereas the SF crowd seemed to be disconnected and disjointed, a lot of people were walking in to Club Necromancy, hugging and catching up.  You really got the impression of a very nice, tight-knit community.

If you ever have the chance to see him DJ, get there!  Don’t even think about it!  He creates an infectious atmosphere.
