After recent weight loss surgery, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the gym. 6 days, in fact.
When I first started coming to the gym, I would put my ipod on a random shuffle. Ultimately, that got boring. The music that was randomly shuffled into my ears wasn’t exactly motivating me to try my hardest. One day, I decided to carefully select music that would motivate me to keep going.
My current gym playlist includes music by Ghost, Aesthetic Perfection, Motionless in White, Night Club, Mono Inc, and Lord of the Lost.
Why?
I need music with a tempo to walk to. I need music that pushes me past the naysayers. I need music. Period.
I’ve always felt like the underdog, so naturally music that follows that theme is appealing to me. Perhaps that’s why I love metal. While rap music tends to focus on the objectification of the opposite sex and country and pop are for mending broken hearts, metal has always carried the idea that just because you are not the norm doesn’t mean you can’t succeed.
