Happy 1.19 Coilers!
Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Italian band Lacuna Coil.
Back Row: Diego Cavallotti, Ryan Blake Folden, Marco “Maki” Coti Selati, Andrea Ferro Front: Cristina Scabbia
Tonight the band will perform a one-time only 20th Anniversary Concert at the famous O2 theatre in London, England. The concert is reportedly being filmed for a release date later in 2018.
During this special concert, the band promises to play all the crowd favorites PLUS never before performed songs. Later this year, the band is also planning to release a special hard-bound book chronicling their history.
While the band has undergone several line-up changes, the core three members have remained since the band’s inception. This includes Cristina Scabbia (vocals), Andrea Ferro (vocals), and Marco “Maki” Coti Zelati (bass, keyboards, and guitars). Joining the core members are Ryan Blake Folden (drums) and Diego Cavallotti (guitars).
During the late 90’s, Lacuna Coil gained a large cult following after being compared to Evanescence. Perhaps the only similarity between the two bands is the strong voices of the female lead singers. Lacuna Coil has always held true to their strong metal roots, while Evanescence held on to their symphonic metal ones.
To date, Lacuna Coil have released 8 studio albums in 20 years. While some have reached more commercial success than others, the band has continued to grow and push their own boundaries.
On 1:19, everyone should consider themselves an honorary Italian and Coiler.
